Today’s post is part of a series where we’ll be profiling each member of our leadership team here at Clix.
We hope you enjoy getting to know us!
It didn’t take long for Andrea to shine brightly with the Clix Marketing team. She quickly became a strong leader while lending support whenever and wherever she can; two attributes that greatly compliment her role in the company as the Outreach Manager. Dependable and approachable, her contributions to the team are far reaching and difficult to quantify. Blessed with an insightful personality, Andrea is adored by the Clix team yet it is because of her unassuming grace that she also manages to conceal her adventurous spirit – a philanthropic, pug-loving globe trotter. Read on to learn more about Andrea.
What college did you attend? What was your major?
Purdue University – I majored in public relations and rhetorical advocacy with a minor in sociology. Boiler Up!
What does a typical day look like for you?
As much as I hate to admit it sometimes, I’m very much a morning person. I’m so much more productive if I get up and have a little time to accomplish something around the house, take the dogs for a walk or workout before I start my day. I typically have an on-going to-do list that I have written the night before so I spend my mornings checking on accounts, responding to emails and checking off items from my list. Typically, some part of my day is spent on the Clix blog, which I manage and prepping for client meetings. The remainder of my day is spent strategizing and digging into client accounts.
What do you do when you aren’t working?
I really enjoy traveling. In the last year, I had the opportunity to travel to two new countries plus several trips to different parts of the United States. I have family and friends all over the place, so I’m often visiting someone along the way. I have recently started indoor rock climbing and am working on my open water dive certification so that I can start scuba diving. I also have two adorable pugs, Kirby and Kasper, that I enjoy walking and taking to the dog park.
How did you get started in digital marketing?
I was in the right place at the right time – I was a college intern at a local radio station that was just getting into the digital marketing industry.
What are some traits / characteristics that an amazing PPC Account Manager possesses?
Flexibility and an open mind are two characteristics that I think are necessary in this job. You need to be willing to put in the time for your accounts, even if that means working later or starting your day a little earlier. There’s no one way to do a lot of the tasks and strategy in PPC, so being flexible and finding new ways to accomplish the same goals is also important in this industry. Updates and changes are inevitable in this field, so you have to be able to roll with the punches.
Describe your jobs/roles at the companies you’ve worked for.
At my previous job, I worked with small to mid-size businesses on PPC and online services. I’ve also had a lot of experience in other areas of marketing in addition to PPC. Right after college, I worked in television marketing for a couple years doing anything from on-air promotions to social media management and email marketing. I have really come to appreciate all of my experience in other areas of marketing because I think it helps me to offer another viewpoint for my clients.
What advice do you have for clients/businesses new to digital marketing?
Be open to new options. You’ll never know if something could work for your business until you give it a chance. Since PPC is always changing, there’s always a chance that a channel or strategy that didn’t work a couple years ago could work wonders now!
What is your favorite thing about this industry?
I love that things are always changing and improving in PPC. The channels are always evolving, which means that our days are never boring!
What’s something you’ve recently implemented, or are planning to implement, in an account that you’re excited about?
I have been launching some really exciting Facebook campaigns for several clients. I’ve been able to test some new (for my clients) targeting in that channel over these last couple of weeks and it’s really exciting. Facebook has so many opportunities, I’m really excited to see what’s in store in 2017.
Favorite blog post?
My favorite blog post has been the Big List: PPC Image Ad Sizes infographic that I put together.
It took a while since I’m not a designer, but once it was together, it’s been something that I can reference again and again as well as provide to clients when they need a list of ad sizes.
Predictions for 2017?
I think (and hope) to see some more features in LinkedIn and Yahoo Gemini. I also think Instagram and Pinterest are going to continue to become bigger players because of the growing audiences and unique targeting opportunities in those channels.
That’s a wrap! We hope you enjoyed getting to know Andrea a little better. A crucial member of our Clix team and one who we rely on. Next time I’ll be chatting with Abby Woodcock, our Efficiencies Manager, so stay close.
