Clix Marketing turns 18 this year and we are celebrating throughout the month of November. For today’s installment, we wanted to share a bit more about what we are grateful for as individuals – clients (past and present), the PPC industry, and working for Clix. Without further ado, let’s get to the gratitude!
Clients that We’re Grateful For
We have a luxury travel client who I love working with. It feels like a true partnership between our teams where there is mutual respect, a solid understanding of digital marketing on their side and an openness to sharing ideas. They also have gorgeous photos that I could get lost in looking at all day!
I also work with a cybersecurity client with global reach, so it’s nice to test geos/messaging outside of the US. We advertise heavily on LinkedIn, so I love expanding my skillset there, and the client is open to trying new ad/campaign types so we often get to be early adopters of new LI features like Document Ads. Additionally, they have an interest in programmatic advertising so we got to test some campaigns in StackAdapt for the first time. I feel like I’m always learning something new on this account.
My newest client, Difrent-has allowed me to step back into a global mindset and not so stuck on NA trends, new perspectives on technology rollouts, etc.
Working on Unless was a great experience- melding my personal interests of clothing, sustainability and marketing into one.
Feedvisor- their platform is interesting because it gives a sneak peek into another PPC service that helps AMZ sellers meld the backend platform of their ecomm products and ads platform.
Professionally, I’m thankful for some of our most difficult clients as now in retrospect, they have helped me grow to not only think outside the box but really learn how to think through marketing tactics for each stage of the funnel and go the extra mile to be more proactive all the time.
Personally, I really have enjoyed working with one of our pro-bono clients, Unlikely Heroes. So many times, the horrors of trafficking have been downplayed in politics, the media, etc. and working with this NPO really helped open to eyes to the truth and so glad that I could help them get the word out to others while raising critical support and awareness for these kids in need.
I could write pages of commentary on clients I’m grateful for over the years. The clients I have worked with have made me the marketer that I am today. THANK YOU. Here are a few highlights of my gratitude for (past) clients…
Planned Parenthood – this client taught me how to manage enterprise digital advertising campaigns. Orchestrating strategy, reporting and communication for a multitude of locations around the U.S.
Infusionsoft (now Keep) – this client honed my skills for managing large-scale B2B campaigns across search, social and display while managing (and optimizing to) performance through the marketing funnel.
Mountaineer Brand – this client was just plain fun. I had the opportunity to consult them in the creation of their Shopify store, set up of product feeds and the launch of ecommerce campaigns across search, social and display. Their growth was epic and every day managing the relationship and their accounts was a real treat.
I am thankful for our loyal clients. Our clients who have been with us for over seven years enjoy a greater depth of knowledge and strength of partnership from our team. And we appreciate the stability, loyalty and relationship with our long term clients.
I am also thankful for clients who clearly and honestly communicate their goals and needs. Yes, our preference is a long term relationship, but that may not be their organizations’ current goal. Maybe they are preparing for a merger or acquisition. If we are aware we can help them prepare and reach the goals they need for a more lucrative M&A. Or if they need temporary help while searching for in-house PPC management we can help them prepare and smoothly transition the new employee into the role.
Changes/Updates in the Industry that We’re Grateful For
Improvements to automated bidding. I remember when eCPC bidding first rolled out and it was truly awful. We see pretty good success now in our client accounts when testing automated bidding; many times it’s more effective/efficient than manual.
Pmax campaigns- the ability it has had to impact conversion and traffic in an automated, responsive way and the improvements Google has been rolling out to be able to finely tune targeting (allowing negative keyword targeting). Also document ads on Linkedin have been a huge success and something we’ve hit the ground running with our B2B lead gen efforts!
Considering I remember the first day Google Ads Editor was available and how life-changing that was, I feel like there are so many aspects of the industry that have changed that I could call out. For me, I’ve enjoyed seeing the evolution of social channels that are now available and the unique ways we as digital marketers can reach our target audiences across them. There are constant updates surrounding new ad types, targeting, or countless other items in each platform.I am grateful that it’s all constantly changing, evolving, and growing!
After 16 years in this industry, I’ve seen a lot of changes… change is truly the only constant. Platform changes, emerging/declining channels, and the like have kept me on my toes over the years. The biggest change I’m grateful for is more of a mindset. When I first started working in digital advertising, so often the paid channel lived in a silo. Over time the industry began to think of (accurately) paid channels as a part of a greater marketing whole. This brought deeper strategies around marketing funnels, attribution, and how channels interact with each other. This has added complexities to the job, but WELCOME complexities. This mindset change has lead to greater results and deeper relationships with our clients.
I entered the world of PPC in 2008. At the time there was very little information for practitioners or clients. I am thankful for a larger community of PPC professionals who are wonderful at sharing ideas and information. I am also grateful that most clients come to us with a higher level of digital advertising education.
Why We’re Grateful for Clix (How Clix has impacted us, our families, etc)
I’ve been with Clix almost 7 years and there are so many reasons for that. Over the years, we’ve had such a wide array of clients and industries and I’ve loved all of the experience I’ve gained as a result. I’ve also had the privilege of working with some of the kindest, smartest, most compassionate people. My family has had a rough couple of years and the whole team from the top down has been extremely kind and supportive and that is special – you just don’t find that in every workplace. I also love the flexibility that comes with working remotely, especially during the pandemic years. WFH allows me the freedom to be there for my daughter on sick days, etc, which is so important to me to be able to care for her and not have to rely on someone else.
I started with Clix in early 2022 and being a part of the Clix team has impacted my career tremendously. I’ve been able to collaborate with some of the smartest marketing minds I’ve ever worked with, alongside the flexibility that working remotely allows for. I am grateful that I can relocate with my fiance to the mountains of NC and be able to continue working as-is as well as spend more time with my cat – aka my furry business partner during the day.
Clix is just a wonderful company to work for. There is a strong and established camaraderie among all of us. We are truly a well-greased machine that works well together and helps one another when needed. With a family of 7, I’ve appreciated the flexible WFH environment that allows me to get to doctor appointments or attend sporting events. We also have an amazing mix of clients and contacts that are just fabulous to partner with. I’ve grown here professionally and personally. I’m looking forward to Clix continuing to thrive and grow!
I’m a Clix boomerang (read: this is my 2nd stint at Clix). And simply put, I’m thankful to be here… again! Working for Clix affords such an awesome opportunity to work with amazing people, amazing clients and have a voice in an amazing industry.
I am grateful knowing that my entire team has my back and strives to do their best every day. I am grateful for the flexibility to take care of work and life each and every day. I am grateful for my friendship with Mae (Clix’s owner) and her trust in me.
The flexibility and financial blessings from owning Clix allowed us to survive my husband’s time in law school, travel, pay for our son’s adoption, enjoy the early years at home with our son, spend time with aging parents, and so much more.
During my 14 years at Clix, I have had the privilege of working with exceptional people. I am thankful that my team members have been brilliant and independent- allowing me to focus on other aspects of Clix.
Clix has been home to numerous industry leaders – John Lee, Kristin Kusiak, Abby Woodcock, Amanda Meli, Bethany Bey, Andrea Taylor, Tim Jensen, Amy Bishop, Robert Brady, Michelle Morgan, Joe Martinez, Susan Wenograd, Kayla Kurtz, Brittany Sager….
I am thankful to have worked with so many high-caliber people.
Thanks for reading to the end and sharing our reflections of gratitude along with us!
