The Clix Marketing Blog’s Weekly #PPC News and Views for September 5th, 2012

Hello everyone! This week marks the return of the Clix Marketing Blog’s Weekly PPC News and Views. Are you excited? We are! Each week, we’ll be highlighting a few of the top blog posts from around the PPC industry. So without further ado, here are this week’s articles.

Search Engine Land: Google’s Display Network provides advertisers with lots of different ways to reach their target audience. With all these different options, you can lose track of how everything works and the best ways to take advantage of them all. In this article, Brad Geddes does an excellent job giving advice on How to Find Success With Google’s Display Network and how to avoid some common pitfalls.

WordStream: It’s no secret that mobile search is becoming a larger market every day. But optimization tactics that work well on desktops don’t always perform on mobile devices. Whether it be keyword selection, bidding strategy, or landing pages, Adam Shain has you covered in this Best Practices for Mobile PPC Campaigns article. Even if you’re already optimized for mobile, this is definitely worth a read as a refresher.

Search Engine Watch: In an ideal world, you’d be able to deliver the ad copy, landing page, and user experience every searcher is looking for when they type in one of your keywords. But since we don’t live in a utopia, we’re left with our best guess. Ted Rooke gives his best advice for How to Leverage Consumer Intent to Maximize PPC Performance using keyword buckets, landing pages, ad copy, and KPIs.

Marketing Land: Greg Sterling reports on a study by Google and IPSOS that reports that 90% of consumers use multiple screens during the same day. While the first few sections of this article deal with activities performed between devices, the last section talks about multi-device paths to purchase and Sterling offers his opinions on the importance of synchronized campaigns across screen types.

Beyond the Paid: Our last article of note for the week is actually a two-for-one deal. (BOGO!) Melissa Mackey’s most recent Beyond the Paid post was recap of her best two posts during the Summer of 2012. The first deals with keyword level URLs in ads and the second is a fabulous compilation of 12 Links Every PPC Pro Should Bookmark. So in reality, this one is buy-one-get-thirteen! Dare I say, a BOGT…? No, I don’t dare.
