Hello everyone, and welcome to this week’s edition of Clix Marketing’s PPC New and Views! We’ve got another great list of articles for you today, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.
Well, I guess that’s not really how reading works. Uh, sit upright, focus, and read!
From the Pros
Quality Scores
Over the last month or two, there have been lots of opinions expressed about AdWords quality score. Some optimize for it, some don’t pay attention to it. The most recent article (and one this author couldn’t agree with more) is Why I Optimize for Quality Score (and You Already Do Too) by James Zolman on the Quality Scores blog. And to make sure credit is given where credit is due, James had an awesome line up of memes in this post as well. So whether you ready it for the content, or the memes, this is definitely a post worth checking out.
Bing Ads
I know what you’re thinking, “Hey, Bing Ads stuff should be in the “From the Engines” section”! And to you I would say, : P. But seriously, although this is on the Bing Ads, Bryant Garvin has written a great post entitled Advertiser Control: Bing Ads Search Partners – What You Need to Know. Long story short, in Bing, unlike Google, you can control which search partners your ads show on and Bryant will tell you how. If that doesn’t get you to read that post, nothing will. (Well, maybe cookies, but this is a blog, not a bakery. Sorry.)
RKGBlog
Facebook recently announced the launch of Facebook Exchange (FBX) Page Post Ads as well as announcing they’ll be cutting more than half of their current ad formats. Kind of confusing, right? Well, never fear, RKGBlog is here. Melissa Garza & Kelly Brown wrote a great description of each ad type, tips to choose the right ad type for your business goals, and a breakdown of the features for each ad type has. If you’re in the Facebook Ads game, this post is definitely worth the read.
Beyond the Paid
Earlier this week was SMX Advanced out in Seattle. And although we all wish we can go to every conference (at least I do), sometimes we must rely on the help of others. Awesomely enough, Melissa Mackey wrote a post about her Top 3 Takeaways from SMX Advanced 2013. Without giving too much away, the three topics covered are Enhanced Campaigns, Bing, and geotargeting. Check out the rest of her post to see what Mel found worth sharing!
From the Engines
Bing Ads
Guh, Enhanced Campaigns. I’m sure by now everyone is getting a little tired of hearing about them. But being prepared for anything is part of a PPCers job. Luckily for us, Bing is doing some great work to help ease the transition into Enhanced Campaigns. This week, Dare Obasanjo wrote More Details on How Bing Ads Will Support Importing of AdWords Enhanced Campaigns and gave advertisers a great rundown of all the ways Bing Ads is changing their system to accommodate the Enhanced Campaigns “upgrade”. This is absolutely worth a read, as well as a shout out to any of your Bing Ads reps to say “thank you” for their platform being so advertiser focused.
Inside AdWords
On Monday, AdWords announced a new level of transparency into advertiser competition. A while back, AdWords released Auction Insights, allowing advertisers to see their competitive stats for a keyword. Now, they’ve expanded that view to include groups of keywords, ad groups, and campaigns to give you a New way to see how you stack up against the competition. Check it out!
That wraps up another edition of Clix Marketing’s PPC News and Views. Have a fantastic weekend and we’ll see you next week!
